Matt is a veterinarian and microbiologist that has worked in animal health for over 20 years. Matt has served as a Co-Founder, Research Director, and Chief Technical Officer of a veterinary biologics company, Director of the National Veterinary Services Laboratories (NVSL) Diagnostic Bacteriology Laboratory, Center for Veterinary Biologics (CVB) Biologics Reviewer, CVB Risk Manager, and interim CVB PEL Director. While at CVB Matt was integral to review of novel products, jurisdiction determination, policy development, training, data analytics, genomics, and interagency coordination. Matt then served as the Science Advisor for APHIS Diagnostics and Biologics providing expert knowledge of animal vaccine regulations and use in multiple arenas including USDA disease response strategies, biodefense, research coordination, interagency collaboration, and international engagements including serving as the U.S. Lead for Veterinary Products to the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH).
